“I’m too rich to buy fake…” Linda Ikeji replies, after Hérmes confirms her Birkin bags as fake

Linda Ikeji, probably Africa’s richest female blogger loves to show off her acquisitions on Instagram, with the latest being a Hermes birkin bag.
She shared the photo on Instagram writing, “Just joined the LIbagfamily! #Hermes ! #Birkin ! My first! “

Birkin bags are a handmade, luxury bag made by Hermes which cost in the range of US$11,550 to US$150,000 and are very exclusive so it seem to have hurt Linda Ikeji when users on Instagram alleged that the bag was a fake.
But what caught people’s attention is how uncharacteristically defensive Linda Ikeji got on the issue.

She responded to one follower saying, “I too rich to buy fake, lol. waited 8 months to get it”. To another she wrote, “even you don’t believe the bag is fake. Hilarious” as she peppered the comment with emojis of laughter.

Those casual attempts to laugh it off, however, became a full blown campaign of defensiveness after a very curious user contacted Hermes for their comments days later
Linda Ikeji went all out at this point. She started posting different angles of the bag to show its authenticity it seems, insisting the Hermes account made a mistake and does not know its product.
She further explained,“I bought the bag for 14 thousand dollars on Sloan Street, UK. In Naira, that would be how much again? That would be about N4.8m.” She finished her reply with a brief self exaltation of “Damn, Linda!”
