#RioOlympics: Nigeria qualify for semi finals, beat Denmark 2-0

Nigeria’s football team have qualified for the semi final of the Rio 2016 football event. The Under-23 national team defeated Denmark 2-0 to cruise into the semi finals.


Nigeria started the game on a high
when captain John Mikel Obi slotted
home a low cross from Imoh Ezekiel
in the 16th minute.

The Danes made attempts to equalise but great saves from Emmanuel Daniel ensured Nigeria ended the half a goal ahead. Aminu Umar doubled Nigeria’s lead from a Mikel Obi corner in the 59th minute.

The Dream Team Six has overcome a
lot of challenges en route the semi
final. Siasia’s boys were stranded into Atlanta and also had issues of unpaid salaries.

Nigeria to face Germany on
Wednesday by 8pm in the event’s
second semi final.
